Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Product Design and Process Improvement Engineer with
a strong background in mechanical engineering, product development and hands-on shop work. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating innovative products, improving manufacturing processes and working with technologies such as sewing and RF sealing. Proficiency in CAD software is a plus.


Key Responsibilities:


Product Design and Development:

  • Lead the design and development of new products from concept to production.
  • Utilize CAD software to create detailed engineering drawings
  • Prototype and test new designs, ensuring they meet all functional and safety requirements.

Process Improvement:

  • Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Develop and document new processes to enhance product quality and production speed.

Manufacturing and Production:

  • Oversee the production of prototypes and final products, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure seamless transition from design to manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the production process.

Technical Expertise:

  • Apply knowledge of sewing and RF sealing techniques to the design and manufacturing processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to incorporate into product designs.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales to ensure product designs/work packets meet customer needs and market demands.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation and reports.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in product design and process improvement within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Hands-on experience with sewing and RF sealing technologies is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience in prototyping and hands-on shop work.



Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a shop environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects.
  • Comfortable using various tools and machinery
