Job Opening: Process Improvement Engineer
Summary: We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Process Improvement Engineer with
a strong background in manufacturing and with proven problem-solving and analytical
skills, willing to lead the company’s Continuous Improvement Program. Experience with
technologies such as sewing and RF heat sealing and tools such as Value Stream
Mapping, Six-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing are preferred.
Specific Job Duties:
1. Process Improvement:
- Analyze current manufacturing processes and review KPI trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to optimize process efficiencies and material flow, and reduce waste.
- Update, develop and document Standard Work for new and existing processes to enhance product quality and OEE.
- Set up and maintain a robust archive system for production-related documents using a Document Control system.
- Identify and log opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs to improve profitability.
- Lead the company’s CI Program as coach and implementor2.
2. New Projects:
- Support the production of prototypes for new projects and assist with pre-production planning activities prior to launch of production.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the production process.
3. Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with, and form, cross-functional teams, to drive operational improvements.
- Develop a reporting system to track improvements and to support EOS KPI’s.
- Deploy strong organizing & planning skills to maximize cross-functional effectivenes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Proven experience in process improvement within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) a plus.
- Hands-on experience with sewing and RF heat sealing technologies, a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
- Excellent project management and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a shop environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects.
- Comfortable using various tools and machinery.
